What to Expect

Art Retreat - California Artist Yoli Manzo will host daily art workshops. Yoli is well known as a highly creative mixed-media artist in the Sacramento area, where she now resides. Yoli has immersed herself in making and exhibiting her Latino-influenced art that includes icons such as Frida Kahlo, Santos, and Guadalupe, vivid colors, and edgy sensibility. Folk art and abstracts are a large focus of her recent works.

This art retreat is perfect for both artists and non-artists! The classes are designed and paced to enjoy the experience with Yoli teaching both simple and advanced techniques on how to create the perfect art experience.

Followed by shopping and cultural experiences led by Rose Mendoza. Each walk is marked by sophisticated stores, art galleries, and tucked-away Placitas. The Centro Historico houses an extensive number of boutiques, both contemporary and folk art-themed. Includes: Mercado de Artesanias and Bellas Art

Important Note - The experience in San Miguel de Allende will include daily walking on cobblestone streets and uneven sidewalks, not ideal if guests require assistance with walking and or have dietary restrictions.

Casa de la Noche Boutique Hotel is a charming, award-winning bed and breakfast located in the heart of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. Guests enjoy a true taste of Mexico, with colorful and authentic accommodations, warm and personalized service, and a central location that puts guests right in the heart of the city's historic center district. Originally built in the 1930s, Casa de la Noche has been carefully restored and decorated to reflect the beauty and culture of Mexico. It has its own spacious gardens and grounds, guest kitchen, superb location, project studio, and original art throughout the property.

Workshops Include:

1. Quick and easy urban sketch hacks. Beginner and seasoned artist-friendly. Can't draw? No worries, We will be learning process-styled drawing in bite-size processes. By the end of this class, you will be ready to sketch the streets of SMA.

2. We will be water-coloring Cacti, flowers, and vessels! I will be showing you a few ways to apply watercolor paints and washes on paper to make beautiful Cacti inspired florals and vases.

3. Print magic. We will be using a variety of print processes to create patterns, paintings and backgrounds, using both acrylic and watercolor paints.

4. Corazon collage class. We will be building an anatomical heart collage with found ephemera, and handmade collage papers.

5. Collage and Crop class. We will be collaging and painting the covers of our art journals to showcase all of our art creations.

6. Workshop with local SMA artist Hermes Arroyo.

About Yoli Manzo

Yoli has exhibited her artwork at numerous galleries, on television, and at art festivals throughout Northern California. In addition to creating art, Yoli teaches mixed media workshops at her studio as well as a guest teacher at other studios, venues, and retreats. She has a love for bright colors, textiles, and just about any media she can throw on a canvas. Yoli was a resident artist at ARTHOUSE, (Studio 10) in Sacramento, CA for six years.
